IdF Advanced Adapter for iSeries provides a native interface between your application or identity infrastructure and IBM iSeries. The adapter functions as a trusted virtual administrator on the target system, performing tasks, such as creating login IDs, assign special authority and changing passwords. In addition, it automates some of the functions that administrators usually perform manually. The adapter enables provisioning and reconciliation with iSeries OS. The IdF adapter enables you to use System iSeries either as a managed (target) resource or as an authoritative (trusted) source of user information for your application or identity infrastructure.
The IdF Adapter for System i5 enables an identity infrastructure to support and manage your policy, profiles, identity events and other resources on your mainframe. This tool reduces administration time, increases operational efficiency and reduces security risk. It is very important to note that the IdF solution provides the mechanism to retrieve critical data from the i5 system required that would meet corporate and regulatory polices.

Component Overview
The IdF Advanced Adapter for iSeries is comprised native provisioning API and the Voyager reconciliation agent. Both components in conjunction with the IdF LDAP Gateway enable the IdF Advanced Adapter for System i5 the ability to provide for bi-directional support for transformation of native i5/OS commands to LDAP and LDAP commands to i5/OS.
IdF executes native iSeries OS provisioning requests that are sent from the IdF Gateway. This includes LDAP bind and authorization requests. The IdF gateway allows the iSeries system to be integrated into any modern identity management infrastructure.
The iSeries Voyager Agent detects events that occur on the System i OS using exit technology. When an identity management event occurs, the event is processed through an appropriate iSeries OS exit. The Voyager Agent captures this event and sends the message to update the IdF LDAP Gateway. The LDAP Gateway monitors events from users, administrators and batch jobs.
